when the lights go down

the other day we had a monster tripola up to the city. I had a huge day planned. We went up to the mission to check out Needles and Pens, a tiny DIY store with clothes, jewelry, accessories, periodicals, books, and even a corner dedicated to showing local artist's stuff. I bought a necklace w/ an owl, a peak oil handbook, and a local fiction mag.
Then we went down a couple streets over to Zeitgeist. The best place to go drink during the day.

i don't know if we were playing correctly but we were having fun so who cares.
from there, we were pretty hungry so we headed over to the haight because I know there are a lot of places to choose from there. We parked in Golden Gate and walked over to Amoeba. I bought these



Then Barrett got the itchin to get his nose pierced. First place we went he made the mistake of telling the truth. He told them he'd had a beer and then they did the whole scrunching of the face "ouch" look and the "sorry we can't do it if you've had a beer but come back when you haven't been day-drinking" I liked his politeness and how he called it day-drinking. We headed down to Mom's and got the pricking done, they had no questions about alcohol.
It was getting later and closer to the time of the show we thought we were going to, so we headed back to the mission. We had some time so we paid a visit to the 5. There was a baseball game going on so there were a few locals in.

After that we headed down to The Knockout in the Castro ish area to try and see the DoDos. We foolishly thought it started at 8. Got there....no bands. BUT they did have an extended sushi happy hour! We bought a bunch of veggie rolls that were effing great. Also there was some Donkey Kong/frogger/miss pacman going on.

We subsequently found out the gathering was not going on until 10pm..ok. So we paced ourselves, waited till then. Saw like 3 acts, none of which were the DoDos....it was getting late so we had to leave...bummer but thats what happens when you have to work at 8 in the morning and aren't getting home till 2am. They're local...hopefully we'll see them again.

I found a bunch more pictures from the week-o-wedding. Somebody was making it very hard for us to leave that day.



he obviously wanted to come with. Every time I'd call friends and family to check on him I got sad....I know I'm already a crazy cat lady and I'm only 24, and only have 1 cat. Shut-up.
So one of the nights we were down there, we did the whole hang out in town with all the locals who never moved away or who were visting for summer. Guess where the big time hang out is?

I used to think it was just pies. oh no....

Then, it was on to another hoppin joint, TGI Fridays. One thing I can say for them, although they allowed the nastiest no-pants-wearing, "I just got off work from Hooters" brohoes in the door, the beers were rather large and you can't beat the company of Aaron the Gremlin and Smokesef.

Later that night Barrett's buddy Dan had a show w/ his band up in t-town. They live in Hollywood so it was a must go. The other bands were completely crusty and not old enough to buy even cigarettes. The crowd they commanded was reflective of that. I may have been the oldest one there but it was aight.



After the show we all decided to pick up and go to Chris and Brookes house for some drinkees. The couple...so cute...

Their house is so big...we all just basically ended up camping out in the backyard next to the pool trying to create six degrees of separation between Kevin Bacon and Pulp Fiction.

I was hangin with the ladies before the ceremony...cried when Britt put the dress on...cried when they were taking pictures...cried during the ceremony...I'm a baby.

I'm back!! We had been in Temecula for a week for Barrett's sister's wedding. Good times with a super fun family. I can't get the pictures to upload from my camera because I think the memory card has a glitch in it. Its upsetting.
The first thing that went on was rehearsal. The wedding was at this beautiful winery outside of Temecula.

Then the afternoon hangin out at the beach with Josh's fam who'd never been. Pretty amazing seeing people witness the ocean for the first time. Or just playing in the sand...
