continuing to catch as catch can

Today is one of my scheduled days off, but I got called in to work a half day later on... Barrett just left to drive down south for a tattoo appt with this guy

and to see these guys

I was supposed to go down too..to hang out and get my other shin done, but plans got a little messed up. So, Chris and Brooke are comin up next weekend and we'll so it then!

Yesterday was Super Tuesday, which included California's primary vote. I voted. This is the most important vote this country has ever seen for so many reasons. If we continue down the path we're currently on, we'll no doubt see the implosion of this country..much to the delight of the hopeful-population-minimizing republicans I'm sure..
--------------------
We saw Saviours and High on Fire not too long ago at the Blank Club downtown. That place is tiny and the sound is not too great, but I loved seeing them again..

----------------------
I got a new piece of art from Adrian at Guru Tattoo in San Jose

blurry picture

so I have a touch up scheduled next tuesday, and we'll be adding in a glow coming off the lantern.
--------------------
baby Baxter. poodle, chihuahua, terrier... Terchipoo?

-----------------------
We got to doggie-sit for Kristi and Ray.
Barrett and Stella, the vicious pitbull

Me and Daisy, the equally vicious chow/shepherd

first post 'o the year..a looong one!

OH my goodness its been over a month! You all know how the holidays go...crazy crazy. Between driving all over california and adopting a million animals out at work, I have been TIRED! So here's a sampling of the past month's activities..I promise to never get so far behind....(lets hope)

these two are a little older....some interesting things Barrett came across at work

found a rad pizza place with a giant screen for watching Sharks hockey...and fabulous veggie no-cheese pizza!

Barrett and I drove down to the San Diego area for Christmas to see the fams. We had to take seperate cars since our work schedules were different. Now, the drive down the 5 is treacherous enough, but monotony gets an entire new definition when meant to describe 8 hours on the 5 freeway on Christmas Eve.
the reason for the season, so eloquently mentioned on a gas station t-shirt

driving myself literally crazy

and then resembling one of the Children of the Corn

then....after the settling in..we finally got to the important stuff. COOKIES! Britt made yummy vegan friendly sugar cookies and frosting....

Moving on to New Years. Nichole had a rager at her humble abode in the Mission. From East Coast frat boys to Santa Rosa thugs...we had it all. I spotted an actual keg-stand or two. Mostly it was just crowded, though.

i don't give a damn bout my reputation

Everyone is talking about Ron Paul. Everyone is saying how he's the most loving, peace seeking candidate out there.

That's false.

Here's a simple article detailing out some of the differences in his political beliefs and those of Dennis Kucinich.

Why Kucinich And Not Ron Paul

by Kevin Gosztola

http://www.opednews.com

Ron Paul doesn't support impeachment. Dennis Kucinich sponsored legislation for impeachment.

Ron Paul doesn't support 911 Truth and even worse implies that the government's version of 911 is true. Dennis Kucinich supports investigating 911.

Dennis Kucinich supports not-for-profit healthcare. Paul supports free market healthcare based on the ability to pay.

Ron Paul wants to eliminate all federal taxation. Dennis Kucinich wants to shift the tax burden to wealthy persons and corporations.

Ron Paul supports the neoliberal free market agenda of free trade, deregulation of business, and privatization of public assets. Dennis Kucinich supports fair trade.

Ron Paul falsely claims that lower taxes benefit all of us but this is false because different types of taxes affect different portions of the population. If you lower a regressive tax like the payroll tax then it benefits the poor and middle classes but not the wealthy. If you lower a progressive tax like a tax on corporate profits, capital gains tax, or federal estate tax then this benefits wealthy individuals and corporations but not the poor and middle classes. Paul also falsely states that lower taxes create jobs which is that trickle down economics crap that Ronald Reagan promoted which proved to be false. Paul also states that lower taxes allow us to make more decisions for ourselves about our lives which is only true if he's talking about regressive taxes that affect the poor and middle classes. Paul also falsely implies that all we have to do is cut spending and we''ll avoid economic disaster.

Ron Paul also wants to deport every single undocumented immigrant. Paul shamelessly exploits 911 for his anti-immigrant agenda when he says a number of 9/11 terrorists had expired visas when he knows full well there were no 911 terrorists and that the attack was really a controlled demolition. Kucinich wants to grant permanent legal residence to immigrants living in the US for 5 or more years and conditional legal status and work authorization to all law abiding immigrants living in the US for less than 5 years.

Ron Paul opposes the International Criminal Court where he justifies it by saying the ICC wants to try our soldiers as war criminals and that they are a threat to our independence as a nation. Well I say if our soldiers commit war crimes then they should be prosecuted as war criminals. The ICC is no threat to our independence as a nation. The only reason for anyone to oppose the ICC is to prevent international criminals from being brought to justice. Paul falsely claims that the jihadists are our direct enemies. Paul also falsely claims that our reason for going to war was a UN resolution. The UN had nothing to do with why our country went to war. Oil is the reason why our country went to war but Paul doesn't mention this and instead blames the UN to support his anti-UN agenda.

Paul is also an anti-abortion fanatic. Paul wants to redefine life as beginning at conception. I guess he wants to throw any woman who has an abortion in jail. Paul also wants to overturn Roe vs Wade. Paul claims federal court tyranny has caused the deaths of 45 million of the unborn. His statement is an oxymoron. You can't die if you've never been born. Paul is trying to impose his religious beliefs on those who don't share them. Kucinich used to be against a woman's right to have an abortion but his views on the issue changed several years ago and now he's a strong defender of a woman's right to choose.

Kucinich discusses 88 different issues on his website. Paul only discusses 10 topics on his website.

Kevin Gosztola lives in Chicago where he is studying to become a documentary filmmaker. When not writing on OpEdNews, he participates in the local campaign in Chicago for Dennis Kucinich for President, the Amnesty International chapter at Columbia, and assists with several political youth groups who face suppression and violation of civil liberties. For example, recently, the incident at Morton West and with three protesters on Oct 27th has led to the organization of weeks of action to raise awareness and money for the victims. Peace.

There are plenty of underlying issues out there. Get informed, read a lot, listen to different voices.

planning for the very near future

Last night was HSSV's Holiday Party at the Blue Pheasant. Why they picked that place is beyond me...the dishes were blah, the drinks were super overpriced, the place looked like tacky christmas pretty much....Oh well I guess when you work for a non profit you should expect those things. Besides all that, once everyone had a couple of drinks in them it did get pretty fun. Afterwards, a few of us went down the road to a divey bar with pool tables and shot a few games. Good times were had by all.

I'm looking around the area for an local tattoo artist to get to know because I have a lot of work in my head. I'm thinking of going to Adrian at Guru. I've heard good things.. Here's a sample:

I like how clean his lines are and the way he blends and fades his colors.

I'm planning on getting a Steller's Jay carrying a lantern and pocket watch...sounds odd but it will turn out...promise.

We went up to the Gestault Haus the other night again....just can't get over them liter German beers and vegan sausages!! Played pool..I lost..and Barrett actually was challenged to a game by an eccentric homeless fellow who had his own cue..pretty entertaining.

This was my downfall...

Here are some epic shots of serious plastic guitar meltdowns...

I've adopted out about 15 cats and kittens on my own at this point! For the next two weeks I'm in customer service only though, probably because its gonna get crazy in adoptions.

President Bush is bold faced lying to us again. Google the latest National Intelligence Estimate and his response. Basically it says that Iran is NOT a threat and they have not had a nuclear program for YEARS. Bush is trying to claim that they are still a threat, despite this information.

We as a nation need some good luck right about now.
